Perl is a high-level, flexible agile language. Agile Languages are also known as a scripting languages, but this term is a historical misnomer.

Perl has many features and has integrated many paradigms from other languages. One can write in a style similar to many languages in Perl. Perl has a rich culture as well as an active community of users, developers and contributors.
